The block of High Street between Chapel and Elm will be the latest campus-area street to be converted to a pedestrian path. As part of a new deal in which Yale will increase its annual voluntary payment to the City of New Haven from $13 million to $23 million, the city will close the street to cars and allow the university to redesign it for walkers and bikers. Unlike the portions of Wall and High Streets that Yale bought from the city, this street will remain city property.
