Throwback Thursday: The Peabody that might have been

125 years ago this month, we showed off the expansion plans for the Peabody Museum. The museum had completed the first stage of the building (at far right in the image) in 1876. The rest never came to fruition. The Peabody moved to Whitney Avenue in 1924, and its old building was torn down to make way for the Memorial Quadrangle (later Saybrook and Branford Colleges).
