A matter of truss

It's a nice time of year to admire the bridges that carry pedestrians over the Farmington Canal Greenway at Hillhouse Avenue. The two bridges, installed in 2010, were designed by architect Cesar Pelli and engineer Guy Nordenson; they're an unusual take on the lattice truss—and a teachable moment for the engineering students who frequent the area.
