Throwback Thursday: crossword champs

There is a significant overlap between Yale alumni and crossword-puzzle aficionados, and apparently that's nothing new. In our January 16, 1925, issue, we reported on a victory by Yale alums in an "intercollegiate crossword puzzle contest" in New York. Representing Yale were future Pulitzer Prize–winning poet and novelist Stephen Vincent Benet ’19 and writer John Allen Thomas ’24.
