Making history in Woolsey Hall

A new exhibition opened yesterday in the Schwarzman Center highlighting the history of Black students at Yale. Building on the work of the Yale and Slavery Research Project, Shining Light on Truth: Black Lives at Yale & in New Haven includes nearly 100 images of Black students from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, along with photos of black staff members and others connected to the Yale community. The image shown here, from the May 1970 Yale Alumni Magazine, is of an audience member at a Woolsey Hall rally in support of the Black Panthers during the trial of Bobby Seale and Ericka Huggins.
