ObituariesIn Remembrance: Frank Freeman Lee ’43, ’53PhD Died on October 22 2013Dr. Frank Freeman Lee, 93, died on the morning of October 22, 2013, following a short illness, during which time he was lovingly cared for by his devoted wife of 38 years, Ruth Balch Lee. He graduated from Yale University with a degree in International Relations and, during World War II, served aboard the destroyer, USS Boyle, in the Atlantic. After the war he returned to Yale and earned his Masters and Ph.D in Sociology. His dissertaion was on race relations in Branford, Connecticut, and was published as a book, Negro and White in Connecticut Town. Dr. Lee spent 31 years teaching and doing research. He was an avid squash player, hiker, reader, and traveled extensively with his wife and family. From obituary published in the Portland Press Herald on October 27, 2013. |
