Timothy F. Brewer III MD, 82, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2014. He was the husband of Barbara Bagdasarian Brewer, and father of Raymond Brewer of Peterborough, New Hampshire; Donna Brewer of Hamilton, Massachusetts; Timothy Brewer IV of Los Angeles, California; Kevin Brewer of Deep River, Connecticut; William Brewer of Woodland Hills, California; father-in-law of Sally Jody Heymann of Los Angeles, California; and grandfather of Duncan MacKenna, Peter MacKenna, William MacKenna, Benjamin Brewer, Jeremiah Brewer, and Ryan Brewer. He was the proud father of poodle/terrier Dudley. Born in Hartford, he was the only son of Catherine Sullivan and Timothy F. Brewer Jr., MD. Dr. Brewer was educated at Loomis School (’49), Yale University (’53), and New York Medical College (’57).  His cardiology fellowship was at the Cleveland Clinic. He practiced cardiology in Middletown and Old Saybrook, Connecticut, associated with Middlesex Memorial Hospital. He was a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Cardiology. He was a lifelong golfer, oenophile, and gourmet cook. Perhaps he was a gourmand. He loved to travel, debate, and sailing. Before starting practice at Middlesex Cardiology, he was a medical director at Pfizer and Miles. Despite some children’s best efforts, he was a lifelong Republican. Some children approved. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be directed to the Southern Arizona Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
