In Remembrance: Walter Ruddy Anyan Died on February 16 2013

Walter Ruddy Anyan Jr., MD, longtime professor of pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine, died suddenly of heart failure on February 16, 2013.  He was 76. Dr. Anyan established the subspecialty of adolescent medicine in the Yale Department of Pediatrics, and served as its first section chief.

    I was a patient of Dr Anyan’s at Yale in 1975-1976. I was about 14 years old and suffered from anorexia. I was a pretty severe case. I just turned 65 and can guarantee that he is the only reason I survived to see 65. God rest his sole ❤️

    I will always remember see Anyan. He guided, stood by and helped me see my thought patterns and behaviors that led to years of trying to conquer anorexia. I am thankful for his brilliance, patience and ability to see more clearly rather than through the anorexic mind. I would like to pass forward the gifts he gave me.
