In Remembrance: Michael O. Pettee Sr. ’51 Died on March 7 2013

Michael O. Pettee Sr., a longtime Westport resident, died on March 7, 2013. He was 83. He graduated from Shattuck School in Fairbault, Minnesota, in 1947 and attended Yale with the help of a “bursary job” scholarship and a Northwest alumni loan. Pettee won the 1951 Sterling Memorial Map Prize for his thesis, “Daniel Webster and the Northeast Boundary Dispute.” An ROTC officer at Yale, Pettee joined the air force upon graduation and was assigned to counterintelligence in the Office of Special Investigations as a second lieutenant.
