In Remembrance: Richard L. Baron ’71 Died on May 4 2017

Richard L. Baron died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on May 4, 2017.  Richard started in the Class of 1971 but spent a year in Ghana as part of the five-year BA program supported by the Carnegie Foundation, and graduated with the Class of 1972. He returned to Yale for an internship in internal medicine in 1976–77 before his residency in radiology at the Mallinkrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Richard had a very successful career in academic medicine, as chair of radiology at the University of Pittsburgh and then the University of Chicago, where he also served as dean of clinical practice.  Richard and his wife Shirley were married in the chapel of the Yale Divinity School in 1971 and have a son, Timothy, and a daughter, Christine.
