During World War II, Joseph served with U.S. Naval Intelligence monitoring the Panama Canal and the Straits of Gibraltar. Following his retirement from banking, he founded the Fox International Fellowship (FIF), a partnership between Yale University and 19 top universities around the world. He was 101.
