In Remembrance: Edwin R. Masback Jr. ’40 Died on October 18 2017

Edwin R. Masback Jr. passed away on October 18, 2017, in Greenport, New York, just a few days after the death of his wife Phyllis. He had retired as president of his family’s hardware business, but it was his lifetime association with the American Field Service that was his lasting legacy. An AFS ambulance driver during World War II, Masback served in Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Italy, earning a host of awards and commendations. After the war he became one of the founders of the AFS International Scholarship Program. He remained involved with AFS, serving in various leadership capacities, and was a life trustee of the organization.

American Field Service carried a full tribute on their website.
