In Remembrance: William S. Beinecke ’36 Died on April 8 2018

William S. Beinecke died on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at his home in Manhattan. He was 103 years old. His father and uncles created Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and Bill spoke at the November 2016 ceremonies that marked the library’s reopening after an extensive renovation. Bill himself was instrumental in the establishment of the Yale School of Management, and he was an active and devoted member of the Yale College class of 1936—writing in the January/February issue of this magazine that he “was still playing bridge at the Yale Club every Sunday.”

The New York Times ran a lengthy story on April 13, 2018, about Bill and his work with New York’s Central Park Conservancy, among other causes.
