Dr John Benson was a remarkable teacher and received Teaching Awards. He was one of the most talented Psychiatrists I know. I was a Psychology Intern at Temple University Hospital 1985/6. Dr Benson understood Psychoanalysis as the part of Central European Philosophical Circle and not just a technique. His teaching I remember as a very shiny memory when I and the two other Psychology Interns sat with him at the Library of the Temple Hospital - such a perfect time. Those memories were soon replaced by many storms which overtook Psychiatry, let alone Psychology which was a hostage of capricious and tumultuous Storms of American Academic Medicine that no one seemed able to control. Money became excuse to destroy everything- and to question everything. Good people were no longer relevant- thus this aristocratic model of human behavior got capsized, and we along with it. Some new Apolonian order is needed now.
