In Remembrance: Richard E. Mooney ’47 Died on January 10 2019

Richard Emerson “Dick” Mooney passed away on January 10, 2019, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 91. He had a long career in journalism, from his start as managing editor of the Yale Daily News to more than 30 years with the New York Times—interrupted by a five-year stint in the 1970s as executive editor at the Hartford Courant.

He also served as class correspondent for his Yale class of 1947, writing class notes columns for this magazine from November 1981 through the January/February 2019 issue.
