Pete Coggins saved my daughter Christina's life. He was a great human being and an extraordinary doctor. In a routine physical exam of my 27 year old, very healthy daughter [former co-captain of the Hotchkiss track team/a sprinter!], Dr. Coggins heard something through his stethoscope that he did not like. He had discovered a theretofore undetected heart anomaly Christina had been born with. Her subsequent open heart surgery done at MGH was a complete success. Since then Christina married and gave birth to our dear granddaughter Jasmine. No one else ever heard the slight variation in her heartbeat that Pete Coggins detected. The morning Christina awoke from her heart surgery she found an index card with a tiny cloth heart glued to it with stitches drawn in pen, and a simple note from Dr. Cecil Coggins who now stars in the Pantheon of the gods that protect our children from harm. Thank you Pete, from the bottom of my heart, for saving our girl. Jennifer
