Elizabeth Schwarz Lamb, born Elizabeth Marie Schwarz, age 90, passed away peacefully at The Kensington in Sierra Madre, California, on February 15, 2020, after a battle with brain cancer. From her birth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 2, 1930, to her death she lived a full life of love, travel, and professional accomplishment.

Dr. Lamb received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 and an MD from Yale University in 1955, followed by an internship at Philadelphia General Hospital from 1955 to 1956. She continued her studies and graduated with a master’s in public health from Yale in 1958. With three young children, she then completed her residency as a fellow in rehabilitation at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California, from 1961 to 1964. After becoming certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1973, she practiced as a physiatrist in private practice and for the Veterans Administration until retirement. Known for her intellectual curiosity, she decided, even after retirement, to attend Florida State University School of Law, obtaining her juris doctor in 2000.

When Dr. Lamb was not hard at work or studying, she was traveling the globe. She visited all six inhabited continents multiple times and even set foot on Antarctica. Her love of learning never ceased, as she had a voracious appetite for reading. But she had at least one guilty pleasure: ice cream, particularly of the chocolate variety.

She is survived by her three children: Jonathan H. Lamb of Sugarland, Texas; Carolyn E. Lamb of South Pasadena, California; and Thomas W. Lamb of Greenwood Village, Colorado; and six grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, along with her beloved parents, George Anton Schwarz and Evelyn Lillian Schwarz. Those interested in attending are requested to contact Martin Hodis at martindhodis@gmail.com for details.
