ObituariesIn Remembrance: Donald E. Cutler ’58 Died on October 1 2020View full imageDonald E. Cutler ’58 (Pierson College) passed away peacefully in Napa, California, on October 1, 2020, from complications arising from a broken hip. Don grew up in Portland, Maine, and raised his family in Philadelphia. He was an executive for many years with the Phillips–Van Heusen Co. and retired to Napa in 1994. He leaves behind his second wife, Cornelia "Nina" Cutler of Napa, California; two daughters: Catherine E. Cutler ’83 (Pierson) and Stephanie J. Cutler; and three grandchildren, now in college, on whom he doted. Throughout his life Don remained very closely connected to the many friends he made at Yale, traveling to spots all over the world in recent years with a group of classmates from the Class of ’58. If anyone wishes to make a charitable gift in honor of Donald, his daughters suggest a contribution in his name to Yale's unrestricted fund, his favorite charity. —Submitted by the family. |

Don Cutler was my first boss at Somerset Knitting Mills in Philadelphia. We had many good times together. He was very instrumental in my career. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good friend. Always sorry he retired.Glad he kept his beard. (Private Joke)
Stephanie and Cathy, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope you remember me. Stephie, you were my mother's helper at the Longport house and also baby sat for my girls (Alison and Melina) in Penn Valley. All these years later, I still remember your dad and mother and you and Cathy with a great sense of affection. I have no doubt you both made your parent proud.
