Hugh was a wonderfully talented architect who, among hundreds of global projects, designed my home in Georgetown in Washington DC just up the street from his own. More important, he was a tremendous person - smart, kind, understanding and very funny.
I once congratulated him on being honored with a show in Brazil. "Do you know why they love me?" he asked. "No idea," I replied. "Because I've never built a thing there," he laughed.
His homes were modern classics, clean, crisp and filled with light, much like the man himself.
