Thomas Southworth Childs, Jr. (Tippy), born December 22, 1939, died May 31, 2021, at home in Vero Beach, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan Knott Childs; his three children: Cynthia, Thomas, and Benjamin; his four grandchildren: Mason, Henry, Adelaide, and Lila; and his favorite brother, Sam.

Tippy graduated from the Hotchkiss School, 1958 (All American diver); Yale University, 1962; and served in the United States Navy as a lieutenant. He enjoyed boating and traveling and was an avid reader. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was well loved by his family and friends. He took pride in his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many summers in Old Black Point throughout his life. He resided part-time in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
