In Remembrance: Walter F. Albers Jr. ’59 Died on August 20 2021

Walter Frank Albers Jr. was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 5, 1937, and died August 20, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona, from lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grace Warner MD; their daughter Ashleigh Albers; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Dieterle; and his companion of 30 years, Merlin, an African gray parrot.

Walter was an Eagle Scout and a 1957 recipient of the Fisher Body Craftmans’ Guild award for excellence in vehicular design.   His education included Culver Military Academy; Yale University BA, economics, cum laude 1959 (Pierson College); Harvard Business School; and postgraduate work in economic modeling at the University of Pennsylvania.  

His company, Albers Technologies Corporation, researched alternative energy systems for air conditioning, desalination, and alternative fuels for many years at ASU Research Park. Walter holds 47 patents worldwide. Always passionate about the environment, Walter authored Gently Fixing Global Warming and wrote many similar pieces on his website, https://fixglobalwarming.net.  

The family will hold a private memorial service. Walt’s favorite charity was Oasis Sanctuary in Benson, Arizona.
