Winston ’57MD Died on October 19 2021Herbert Saul Winston, 88, a psychiatrist retired from private practice in the Washington, DC, metro area, passed away on October 19, 2021, following injuries sustained in a fall at home. Winston was born to Myron and Minnie Winston in New York City. He was the youngest of three. His older brothers, now deceased, were Morton and John. Herbert attended Forest Hills High School where he was a finalist in the 1949 Westinghouse Science Talent Search at the age of 15. He entered Harvard University at age 16 and attended Yale Medical School at age 20. During his medical residency, he met and married Joyce Rolston of Vancouver, Canada. After residency, Herbert served in the US Air Force and from 1961 to 1963 was stationed in Japan. Upon settling in the DC area, Dr. Winston worked for the federal government and taught at Howard University College of Medicine before entering private practice. He was a Fellow of the Washington Psychiatric Society. His marriage ended in divorce. Survivors include a son, Jeremy; two daughters, Rachel and Leigh; and three lovely grandchildren.
