In Remembrance: Daniel W. Lyon ’55 Died on January 12 2024

Daniel Webster Lyon, an artist and architect, passed away on January 12, 2024. He was 90.

Dan cherished his Yale experience and often recalled adventures that accompanied his years of rowing crew. (His letter sweater remains in his closet). Dan enrolled in ROTC while at Yale and served as a lieutenant in the field artillery for two years in Korea. He enjoyed several friendships born at Yale throughout his life and attended many of the reunions.

Dan married his artistic talent with discipline and pursued a career in architecture. He gained prominence regionally and enjoyed his craft until he retired at 89.

Dan was a self-effacing man of intelligence, good faith, and humor. His life was well-lived. His memory will grace the lives of his wife Janis, his daughters, stepdaughters, and grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his son and his former wife.
