Tom Beddall died on September 3, 2013. He was an editor of the Yale Daily News and student manager of several championship swimming teams coached by the legendary Bob Kiphuth.
After graduation he served in the Philippines as an officer in the US Army. He earned a law degree from the University of Virginia, then joined the international law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell.
He left the practice to become, for 30 years, administrative assistant to Paul Mellon (Class of 1929), who was the most influential cultural philanthropist of his age and provider of the Yale Center for British Art.
Tom is survived by his wife, four children, and five grandchildren.
