Garrett, a longtime professor of sociology at Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont, passed away on August 27, 2013 at the age of 73. He greatly enjoyed teaching, presenting papers at conferences in the United States and abroad, as well as conducting two-week courses in Paris, France, between the fall and spring academic semesters for many years.
