A Yale and Juilliard graduate, he worked as musical director of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in Ohio, established the city's youth orchestra and the arts council, and began the Springfield Summer Arts Festival. He conducted the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis from 1993 to 2010 before moving to the orchestra’s cello section. The Indianapolis Star published a full obituary on September 6, 2013.
