Yale Pathways enters third year

Yale Pathways to Arts and Humanities Summer Scholar Program offers an infrastructure for Yale faculty, staff, and students to share Yale’s rich resources with local New Haven public school students. This summer, the Yale School of Art is excited to embark on its third year of workshops in collaboration with Pathways, through which MFA students design and teach a summer art program intended to spark students’ imaginations and extend their learning beyond the walls of their high school.

This summer, rising second-year MFA student in painting/printmaking Lauren Flaaen has been selected to lead a workshop series. Last summer, Orlando Porras ’24MFA (graphic design) was awarded the Pathways Teaching Fellowship; and in 2022, María Vargas Aguilar ’23MFA (painting/printmaking) led a painting-oriented workshop for New Haven high-schoolers.

In May Aperture named recent graduate Avion Pearce ’24MFA (photography) as the winner of its 2024 Aperture Portfolio Prize, and the Dedalus Foundation selected Yacine Fall ’24MFA (sculpture) for a Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in Painting and Sculpture.
