Public lectures and events this fall

The School of Art has a robust schedule of public lectures scheduled for the Fall 2024 semester which are open to the alumni community. On October 9, Pakistani American visual artist Shahzia Sikander will deliver a talk as part of our Distinguished Lecture Series in the Robert L. McNeil Jr. Lecture Hall at the Yale University Art Gallery. In November, we will be hosting the third event in our annual DEI Spotlight Series—this year led by the painting/printmaking department. On November 1, a panel of artists will speak in conversation, followed by a keynote lecture by sculptor/photographer Paul Pfeiffer. Finally, photographer and program alum Robert Andy Coombs ’20MFA will deliver a lecture on the evening of November 4 in the School of Art building at 36 Edgewood Avenue. Visit or subscribe to our public events calendar for full information about each event as it becomes available.

Professor is visiting scholar at MIT

Meleko Mokgosi, director of graduate studies in painting/printmaking and associate professor, has recently been announced as one of the 2024–2025 MLK Visiting Professors and Scholars, a program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT’s MLK Visiting Professors and Scholars Program brings visiting professors to their campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to enhance each professor’s scholarship through intellectual interactions with MIT peers and enrich the intellectual life of the Institute with their participation in MIT research and academic programs.
