Vincent Scully remembered
Vincent Scully’s former students and colleagues, along with other members of the Yale community, gathered on January 20 in Battell Chapel for a memorial service to remember him. Among those who spoke were President Peter Salovey ’86PhD, former president Richard Levin ’74PhD, architecture critic Paul Goldberger ’72, architects Maya Lin ’81, ’86MArch, and Robert A. M. Stern ’65MArch, and historian David McCullough ’55. Scully, who died November 30 at the age of 97, received his BA from Yale in 1940 and his doctorate in 1949. Sterling Professor Emeritus of the Arts at the time of his death, he taught at Yale for more than 60 years.
New video from undergraduate admissions
On December 8, the Yale admissions office released the follow-up to the 2010 viral video That’s Why I Chose Yale. The new video, That’s Why I Toured Yale, is directed by YouTube celebrity Kurt Schneider ’10 and features performances by Sam Tsui ’11, Simone Policano ’16, and hundreds of current students. In the nearly eight years since it premiered, That’s Why I Chose Yale has amassed 1.9 million views on YouTube and has been seen by hundreds of thousands of visitors to the admissions office and Visitors Center.
