Honorees exemplify SOM’s mission

In May, Dean Kerwin K. Charles announced the winners of the newly created 2021 Dean’s Mission & Impact Award. The annual award recognizes graduating students who exemplify Yale SOM’s mission to educate leaders for business and society.

The inaugural winners include: graduating members of the MBA for Executives health care area of focus, who acquired and distributed thousands of masks to homeless people in Philadelphia and Los Angeles; student leaders of the Social Impact Consulting Club, who led their colleagues in providing assistance to local communities and organizations during the pandemic; and MBA student Lina Kacyem ’21, who has led efforts to fight racism as a leader in student government, the Black Business Alliance, and the Council on Anti-racism and Equity.

The school will make contributions to organizations of the recipients’ choices whose work aligns with the Yale SOM mission.
