Yacht club plan goes back to drawing boardAt the end of a contentious three-hour public meeting last night in Branford, Yale announced that it is withdrawing its plan to build a new boathouse next door to the Yale Corinthian Yacht Club in the Short Beach neighborhood, the Branford Eagle reports. “The best course is to withdraw the present application,” Yale attorney Joseph Hammer said. He said the university will resubmit the plan after taking neighbors’ objections into account. The proposal required the approval of the Civic Association of Short Beach, which postponed its meeting last week after more residents showed up than would fit in the venue. About 200 residents, most expressing opposition to the plan, attended last night’s meeting, the New Haven Register said. ___________________________________________ The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University.
