Twenty-five years ago, in our February 1990 issue, Randall Beach wrote about the Old Heidelberg, the “poor man’s Mory’s” that was then in its 233rd year in New Haven. Regular Herman Liebert ’33 told Beach that the Old Heidelberg had “the sense of good fellowship over a glass of beer. It was typical of what you’d find in a Munich beer hall.” Within a year of the article, the Old Heidelberg was gone, replaced by a Thai restaurant. ___________________________________________ The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University.
