A room of one’s own

When Cross Campus Library was transmogrified into Bass Library a few years ago, one feature of the old subterranean space was reimagined: the individual study cells known to students of old as “weenie bins.” (“Weenie” was a term for an excessively studious Yalie.) Although the aesthetic has changed, and although a quick poll of undergrads shows that they now just call them “cubicles,” there’s still a place in the library to be alone—or alone with someone else, for that matter.
