Day tripWith Washington’s Birthday transferred to the nearest Monday, February 22 now passes without a lot of notice. But for 60 years at Yale, the date was Alumni Day, when grads took advantage of the holiday to come back and see “the university in its working clothes,” as we put it in our March 2, 1917, issue. (That issue also included this photo, taken 100 years ago today.) Alumni Day was a Yale tradition from 1914 to 1973, after which it was apparently superseded by the Assembly of the Association of Yale Alumni.
