President Peter Salovey ’86PhD addressed the dedication of Grace Hopper College—formerly Calhoun College—yesterday afternoon in the college’s Roosevelt Thompson Dining Hall. A number of Naval ROTC midshipmen in uniform turned up to celebrate the naming of the college for Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper ’34PhD. Besides Salovey, speakers included Professor Julia Adams, head of the college; Roger Murray III, Hopper’s nephew; and Admiral John M. Richardson, the US Navy’s chief of naval operations. A Navy brass quintet closed the ceremony and launched the newly renamed college with “Anchors Aweigh.”
