Architecture residency

The Indigenous Scholars of Architecture, Planning, and Design—a student group at the School of Architecture—has been named the first participant in the New York City–based Center for Architecture’s new residency program. ISAPD, founded in 2018 by students Summer Sutton ’22PhD, Anjelica Gallegos ’21MArch, and Charelle Brown ’20, has brought indigenous architects to speak at Yale, has curated exhibitions, and has led to a broader awareness of indigenous architectural traditions within the school. At the Center for Architecture, the group investigated the theme of Indigenous Futurism—“architectural sovereignty through the lenses of technology, alternate worlds, science fiction, and temporality.”
